I’m back and I’ve learnt new things. Unless you have been living under a rock or comes from an alternative reality, you would have been completely aware of the chaos coming from 2020 and it’s still here in 2021. We’re now more than the halfway mark on 2021 and it seems that my dreams of travelling for work or visiting France again is not happening anytime soon. But (perhaps) like everyone else living under a pandemic, I’ve taken up a hobby (well several hobbies really). You know what? This might best presented as a list of things that happened to me from 2020 to now.

- I graduate from university midway 2020
- Spent almost a full year applying and interviewing for jobs (finally got one!)
- Took up baking (while my sister became obsessed with cooking) – soo much food in our house at one point
- Moved back in with my parents
- Learnt how to sew and make my own clothes
- Learnt how to crochet and knit (made a couple of blankets for my sisters and attempting to make a sweater)
- Shopped a lot! I mean a lot (I spent so much much money on fabrics and patterns and yarns etc…)
- Attempting to get back to painting again
- Currently beautifying my parents’ garden
I’m pretty sure as you can tell from the list, don’t do lockdowns extremely well. I get agitated and I need something to occupy my time, plus the frustration of the countless job rejections, I had to focus my energy somewhere. Have you guys seen those people in social media where they basically glow up (health wise), i.e. they spent their time in quarantine/lockdown working on their body and getting into shape. Well?! I went the other direction. On the bright side, I learnt a lot of new skills.
There have been times where things seems to go very slowly, like the world is at a standstill. There are times when everything seems to so busy that there isn’t enough hours in a day. But all in all, it’s been somewhat interesting. Anyways, what is the point of this post? (you say) Why am I rambling (as always)? Well! I want to share some these achievement with you guys and (maybe) get some feedback and future ideas. I’m also (re)launching my Etsy shop where I sell handmade scrunchies (and maybe a possibility to expand it more in the future, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves).
It’s also a good motivator to share ideas out there with other creatives while also documenting (in a way) my progress on how these skills are improving. Having a sense of creative outlet is sometimes a great way to destress. I know for sure that my full-time day job (while being my dream job) can be quite draining and I’ve always found that making pretty things or just reading kinda therapeutic. I get to be whoever I want to be, create something that is purely for myself. Hence this! This is something that I’ve started and will continue to do purely for myself; and if others find this entertaining, helpful, useful, [insert adjective here], then to each their own. It will still be here. Anyway, as I’ve mentioned before. I have been doing quite a lot of gardening lately (beautifying my parents backyard) and here the result so far.
Be sure to check out this quick video I’ve put together. I was bored today and wanted to play around with some things. I’m quite obsessed with these flowers though. I’m also growing some zinnias from seed and still waiting if it would actually grow on me (I haven’t really had a best results when it comes to growing plants from seed but I’ll give it another go, maybe third time lucky?). Although the pond area is really my spot in the garden (btw, my dad built the pond years ago, I’m just the decorator or is it landscape gardener).
