Step Mile Journeys

I had often wondered 
how this life would turn out.
If I had chosen a path
due north instead of south. 

Would I still be here?
The same job as my present life;
Or be married somehow,
Both a mother and a wife?

And what of my career?
Would it still be the same?
Or perhaps a different route,
One that leads to fame. 

How far would I have travelled?
Across the continents and seas.
Or maybe I just stayed home,
Instead of travelling to Greece.

These thoughts have often entered,
both my mind and my heart. 
That often I had wished 
For a completely new start.
